Job Summary

Through weekly 40 minute cooking sessions, Mini Chef facilitator teach children basic cooking techniques to help children understand how to make healthy food choices and provide them with opportunities to develop their literacy skills. Cooking facilitator plan and lead the cooking sessions, with the support of Mini chef staff. This opportunity is available at the following locations:

 

Program: Mini Chef Toddler Club (ages 3 – 5 plus families)

Location: Hungry Monkey, 2 Stoneham Rd, Hove, BN3 5HJ

Day/Time: Monday to Thursday (morning 9am-11am/afternoons 1pm-3.30pm)

 

Program: Mini Chef Afterschool Club (ages 5 – 12)

Location: Hungry Monkey, 2 Stoneham Rd, Hove, BN3 5HJ

Day/Time: Monday to Thursday (afternoon starting at approximately 3:45pm-6.45pm)

 

Program: Full Moon Party with food and music (all ages)

Location: Wish Park, Hove

Day/Time: Every month on full moon day (starting at approximately 3:00pm/3:30pm)

 

Program: Creative Cooking for families (ages 3 – 12 plus adults)

Location: Hungry Monkey, 2 Stoneham Rd, Hove, BN3 5HJ

Day/Time: School holidays Morning starting at approximately 10:00am

 

Program: Taste of Thailand Sunday (Adults only)

Location: Hungry Monkey, 2 Stoneham Rd, Hove, BN3 5HJ

Day/Time: Sunday late morning starting at approximately 11:00am

 

Program: Mini Chef on Wheels in school project (ages 3 – 15)

Location: various

Day/Time: Weekdays morning or afternoon (very flexible)

 

Program: Today’s Food for Friends (Community Group)

Location: Hungry Monkey, 2 Stoneham Rd, Hove, BN3 5HJ

Day/Time: Monthly Monday morning (very flexible)

Requirements

  •  Experience in working with children
  •  An Understanding of nutrition and healthy eating
  •  Comfortable teaching and supervising children safely basic cooking techniques
  • Strong organizational skills the ability to work independently
  • Completion of volunteer documentation with criminal record check
  •  Able to commit to volunteering once a week for a minimum of six weeks
  • Background in nutrition or related field
  • Hold food hygiene certificate
  • Hold Children safe grading certificate Hold First aid training certificate
