Rabbits: Gutting, skinning and butchery; including cooking and tasting.

Fishing: Trapping, gutting and cooking carp.

Wild edible and medicinal plants: Identification walks, cooking and tasting wild plants.

Outdoor cookery and fire building: Fire by friction demonstration, cooking over fire.

Moshi Fish

A "Moshi Fish"

Ever tried Moshi cakes from the Chinese supermarket? Well why not try making them yourself with a twist!

To make a whole batch like we did at Young Sussex you will need;

100g of rice flour
30g of tapioca starch
1/2 tin of coconut milk
Food colouring (any colour you like)

Mix all of the ingerdients together and cook on a medium heat on the hob with a non stick pan until it forms a dough consistancy. Mold  into fish shapes mixing in the colours of your choice and your done! Oh, and also forgot to mention we used silver balls for the eyes here!

Whale Sushi!

Get creative and making yummy treat for yourself at Young   Sussex Nurserie

To creat this sweet couple you need

Sushi Rice

Japanese rice                     200 g

Water                                   300 ml

“Sushi Seasoning”

Rice Vinegar                       30 ml

Sugar                                     ½ tbs

Salt                                         ½ tsp

“Sushi filling”

Cucumber, Tomatoes, Peppers, Carrot

How to make Sushi

1. Mix Rice Vinegar, Sugar, salt  bring to boil then leave to cold

2. Soak Japanese rice with warm water about 20 mins then put water in cook it with high heat leave it to boil then turn the heat down to the lowest heat for 15-20 mins then turn off the heat and leave the rice to set for 15 mins

3.Mix the cold Sushi seasoning (1) with the hot rice(2) you can use the fan to cool it down

This is the simply the best recipe for everyone to enjoy this Chinese New Year!

You need;
Chinese Dumpling Pasty
Steamed taro (cook until very soft)
Sweetcorn
Chopped carrots
White cabbage

Mix all of the ingredients together and season lightly with sesame oil and soy sauce. Put the mixture in the center of the pastry and fold over into a half moon shape, seal the edge with a fork, boil the dumplings until soft and that’s it, you’re done!

You may not believe it, but Mr. Crumpet the Crab is actually made from crumpets, carrot sticks, cantaloupe and blue berries. Why not try and create Mr. Crumpet yourself. Give it a go!
